Senior Humanoid Robotics Programmer I

At HIPROJECT, we are looking for an experienced software engineer who will take technical responsibility for the entire software development of our humanoid robots — from software architecture and development standards to leading the team of developers we are currently building. We are looking for an experienced engineer, not a manager. Someone who will design the architecture and also write the code themselves; someone who can judge when a solution is good enough and when it is likely to become a burden six months down the line; and someone who can explain this to junior colleagues without simply doing the work for them.

It is important to us that you are also interested in hardware. In humanoid robotics, software cannot be separated from the physical machine: cameras, depth sensors, inertial measurement units, actuators and grippers often behave differently in the real world than they do in the documentation. If you are not willing to work closely with the hardware and understand how it actually behaves, you cannot lead development here.

We actively use artificial intelligence in our development process. We expect the development lead to define the rules of engagement: where AI can accelerate development, where its output needs to be verified, and how we maintain high code quality when significantly more code can be produced than before.

MAX, NEO and CRUZ are already part of our humanoid robotics team. MAX and CRUZ are among the most advanced humanoid robots in the world, while NEO stands out for its exceptional mobility and athletic capabilities. Together with our robotic pet, they are already waiting for their new “brothers and sisters.”

HIPROJECT operates the largest fleet of advanced humanoid robots in this part of Europe. This means you will be working with some of the newest and most advanced robotic technology available today.

Skills we look for

• • More than five years of hands-on programming experience in Python and C++
• • In-depth understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software architecture
• • Experience in designing larger software systems, including modularity, interfaces, and technical
• • A genuine interest in working with hardware, including cameras, sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces
• • Knowledge of ROS/ROS 2 and real-time software development
• • Experience leading a software development team is a plus
• • Strong command of the software development process, including code reviews, testing, CI/CD, version control, and GitHub workflows
• • Experience with AI-assisted software development is a plus
• • Ability to make sound decisions with incomplete information and in emerging technological environments
• • Proficiency in English for working with manufacturers and technical documentation
