Senior Humanoid Robotics Programmer II
At HIPROJECT, we are looking for experienced software engineers who want to develop software for humanoid robots and help us build the next generation of humanoid robotics.
Our projects evolve extremely quickly — often faster than any single narrow specialization can keep up with. One month, the focus may be on environmental perception; the next, on motion planning and navigation; and shortly after that, on integrating a voice interface for a care home application.
That is why we are looking for engineers who enjoy variety, learn quickly, and are willing to dive into a new field whenever the project requires it.
Areas you will work on
• Computer vision and environmental perception
Recognizing objects, people, spaces, and relevant situations in the robot’s environment
• Motion and navigation
Walking, balance, path planning, localization, and obstacle avoidance
• Manipulation
Grasping, moving, and handling objects of different shapes, sizes, and weights
• Robot learning
Learning from demonstrations and working with models that connect vision, language, and motion
• Simulation and digital twins
Developing and testing solutions in virtual environments before deploying them on real robots
• Human–robot interaction
Speech, user interfaces, and robot behavior in environments shared with people
• Infrastructure and fleet management
Remote updates, monitoring, telemetry, and collecting data from robots operating in the field
Artificial intelligence is part of our everyday development
We develop software with the active use of modern AI tools.
Claude Code and similar tools are a standard part of our development process, not an exception.
This is also changing the role of the software engineer. Broad technical understanding, systems thinking, and the ability to critically evaluate results are more important than ever.
An engineer who understands the system as a whole and can judge whether a solution is technically correct, robust, and genuinely usable can now cover significantly more areas than just a few years ago.
You will work directly with real humanoid robots
MAX, NEO and CRUZ are already part of our humanoid robotics team.
MAX and CRUZ are among the most advanced humanoid robotic systems in their class, while NEO stands out for its exceptional mobility and dynamic movement capabilities.
Together with our robotic pet, they are already waiting for their new “brothers and sisters.”
HIPROJECT operates one of the largest fleets of advanced humanoid robots in this part of Europe.
This means you will not be working only on concepts and simulations.
You will work directly with real robots, state-of-the-art hardware, and some of the latest technologies currently available in humanoid robotics.
Skills we look for
- • Good knowledge of Python and/or C++
- • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software system design
- • Experience in robotics, artificial intelligence, or computer vision
- • Knowledge of ROS/ROS 2 is a major advantage
- • Understanding of working with sensors, cameras, and actuators
- • Experience with AI-assisted software development, together with a critical approach to AI-generated results
- • Willingness to work in new and rapidly evolving fields, even when no established or standardized solution exists yet
- • Enthusiasm for testing on real hardware, not only in simulation
- • Willingness to mentor and support junior colleagues
- • Good English proficiency for working with technical documentation
What we offer
- • The opportunity to work with some of the world’s most advanced humanoid robots
- • Exceptional breadth of experience: in one year, you will work across more areas than you might encounter elsewhere in five
- • The opportunity to contribute to projects that are already changing the way people work
- • An environment where development does not stop at the idea or prototype stage, but moves all the way into real-world implementation and deployment
- • Currently based in Stari trg, Slovenske Konjice / hybrid, and soon moving to the new HIPROJECT Hub — a state-of-the-art center for robotics and advanced technologies
Who is Hiproject?
At HIPROJECT we have spent years helping companies bring advanced technology into real industrial environments, where automation and robotics deliver greater safety and efficiency, address the shortage of labour and open new opportunities. Our approach rests on Industry 5.0: technology is not there to replace people, but to improve their work, make it safer and create higher value.
